KANDAL: The first goal was scored by Prime Minister Hun Sen on the morning of 25 December, marking the opening of the 5th Samdech Techo Trophy Golf Tournament held at Vattanac Golf Resort in Takhmao City, Kandal Province.

This is the fifth time that this event has been held in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, the National Police and the Golf Federation of Cambodia.

The Minister of National Defense and President of the Golf Federation of Cambodia, Tea Banh, stated that the event was organized to celebrate the 23rd anniversary of the end of the Cambodian civil war with the win-win policy of Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Minister Tea Banh stated that due to the success of the Prime Minister’s win-win policy, Cambodia has transformed itself from a country of war and tragedy into a stable, peaceful and united country, which has developed in all fields, especially sports, as seen by this golf tournament.

Prime Minister Hun Sen's win-win policy, launched on 29 December 1998, welcomed all Cambodians to unite and build a nation, bringing complete peace, national unity and brand new opportunities for Cambodia. This policy has allowed Cambodia to develop continuously to this day.

Recently, Cambodia reached lower middle-income status in 2015, and is aspiring towards becoming an upper middle-income country by 2030.
